The world's oldest newspaper stopped printing January 1, 2007 and henceforth will be published only on the Internet. The Post Och Inrikes Tidningar, the official Swedish publication for bankruptcies and corporate and government announcements, has been published daily since 1645. The former paper can be found on the Web site of the Swedish Companies Registration Office. Publishing for 362 consecutive years - now that's impressive.
And speaking of the internet, China has 132 million users as of the end of 2006, compared with 123 million in the US. One more indicator that the BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India and China) countries are going to leave the rest of us way behind if we don't smarten up and begin to make sure our education systems and our support for R&D keep us in the game.
