News of Belinda Stronach's battle against breast cancer became public today. Surgery is now behind her and Grumpy joins all Canadians in wishing her a complete victory over the big C. The reports that have been made public make her chances look very good thus far.
Stronach has taken her shots in the public arena and done so without complaint. When she ditched the Tories and joined the Liberals, Peter MacKay's deer-in-the-headlights retreat into little boyisms contrasted with Stronach's steady refusal to discuss their private relationship. It has not been Stronach's style to parade her life or feelings across the front pages of the nation's newspapers. She has taken on this latest challenge with no publicity and, although word has now leaked out, she will recuperate in private but we hope she knows that all Canadians wish her well.
