Spitzer and Gomery and all that crap

So Elliott Spitzer shacked up with a call girl in Washington and is now the former governor of New York.

There's been a lot of chatter that his wife shouldn't have stood by his side when he fessed up but should have booted his tail out the door of their home and left him to fend for himself.

A bunch of questions. What the hell is the FBI doing trying to entrap a politician? Prostitution is not a victimless past time but in a day and age when terrorist threats exist and wife abuse is rampant and child abuse even more so, what the hell are these bozos doing messing around in Elliott Spitzer's sex life?

And why shouldn't his wife be by his side if that's where she wants to be? Who's business is it anyway? Not mine and not yours for double damn sure and it isn't our place to make with the free comments and the passing of judgments.

I for one am getting really tired of the holier than thou, sanctimonious bullshit appearing in letters to the editor and in columnists' columns and the editorial pages.

The real victim in this case is Mrs. Spitzer and the couple's three daughters. Where do they hide now? Through no fault or action of their own, the vicious white hot glare of the media in full pursuit mode has rendered their right to privacy null and void. Spitzer has much to answer to these three people but he does not have to answer to the public beyond the fact of his unbelievable hypocrisy. He has resigned in deep disgrace, with the spotlight of his entire country cast over him. His career is in the ash can and you know as well as I do that it isn't coming back. Seems to me that ought to be enough and the rest is between him and his family.

A lot of whining and winging has gone on about Spitzer as there has been going on up here in Canada over a different scandal.

John Gomery, he of the infamous Gomery report, is pissed off royally, not to mention he is "hurt" by the unwillingness of Harpoon and the Alliance to implement Gomery's recommendations. He whined all through an interview with the Ottawa citizen today because the Alliance had dome so little with his recommendations, saying they were ungrateful in the extreme because the Conservatives, probably wouldn't be in power today if it weren't for the sponsorship inquiry. "I think they owe the fact they are in office to the work of the commission. That wasn't the objective, but it was the consequence and I think they are ungrateful to treat me that way," he said.

Holy mother of Mary, we are becoming a nation of whiny, complaining, immature babies and if we don't like what people are saying then we leap to the courts, a la the tadpole who is our prime minister.

Are there any real adults any more? Are there any people left in leadership roles who's perspective on sex and human dalliances is broader than that of most 12 year-old's? Are there any leaders out there who's first focus is not their gigantic ego but on what's a good solution to sticky problems? With all the world's challenges, the governor jerking off with a prostitute and a judge's pouting over "hurt" feelings is not my idea of where we should be focusing our energy and resources. Call me crazy but I've had it with this crap.

It all is enough to drive a man to drink.
